Tonka Tales is a VHS series released on July and August 1996. It tells the story of young Scrapper, who has always longed to work in the recycling yard.
In Scrapper's Biggest Job, Scrapper (a dump truck) is going to work with the big trucks at the recycling yard. When he volunteers his services, he is told by the other trucks that he is too small and they reject his attempts to help. Sadly, Scrapper heads for the front gate where he runs into wise old Gramp Truck who suggests that one day Scrapper will find his own very special skill. Gramp Truck was right! His opportunity finally arrives when the key to the gas pump has fallen into a scrap pile and all the big trucks are running out of gas! Since Scrapper is small he easily gets the key and saves the day! Scrapper is a hero, but more importantly, he has found out that there is a special role even for a little truck like him.
In Scrapper's Baby Brother, Scrapper (a dump truck) is excited today -- it's his birthday! He can't wait to get to the recycling yard to help the big trucks work. But when Scrapper arrives, no one remembers his birthday. Then he finds out his job for the day is to babysit Baby Brother (a small front loader) and that is no easy task because Baby Brother is constantly getting the way of the big trucks. Then Scrapper loses track of Baby Brother! Scrapper frantically searches the yard, wishing he didn't have a brother at all. That is until he finally finds his brother, who was putting together a surprise birthday party for him, complete with a special gift! As all of the trucks join in the celebration, Scrapper understands the importance of being responsible for his brother.
